"Granite" Exploration Hole, Area 15, Nevada Test Site, Nye County, Nevada -- Interim Report: Part A, Structural, Petrographic, and Chemical Data

Description: From introduction: The "Granite" exploration hole was core drilled to determine the character of the igneous rocks from the surface to a depth of 1,200 feet and the degree of structural anisotropism of the rock within 200 feet of a point 950 feet below the surface. This report summarizes the data on the structure, chemistry, petrology and alteration of the rocks exposed at the surface in the immediate vicinity of the drill site and in the core.

Virgin Valley Opal District, Humboldt County, Nevada

Description: From abstract: Numerous discontinuous layers of opal are interbedded with a gently-dipping series of vitric tuff and ash which is at least 300 feet thick. The tuff and ash are capped by a dark, vesicular basalt in the eastern part of the area and by a thin layer of terrace gravels in the area along the west side of Virgin Valley.

Description: From abstract: Uranium is associated with copper and tin ores in the Majuba Hill area, Antelope mining district, in the central part of the Antelope Range, Pershing County, Nev. About 23, 000 tons of copper and 200 tons of tin ore, a small quantity of lead-silver ore, and some arsenic-silver ore have been produced from the Majuba Hill mine, the Last Chance mine, and a mine in sec. 34, T. 33 N., R. 31 E.
