COMICS
The Southwestern Convention of comic book fans and
collectors nears a close at the Southland Hotel in
About 60 delegates from Texas Oklahoma and
Dallas.
um . Louisiana are on hand for this afternoon's
comic-book auction. NMEW Books which feature super-
heroes are easily the most popular. And there's some
ooot and ahhh's when a couple of vintage Marvel
Comic Books are put up for bids. The books sold for
ten cents each in the early 1940's. But today's
bidding quickly soars past the 20-dollar mark.
The books go to Larry Herndon, from Carrollton, for
20-dollars-and-65-cents. Herndon, the convention's
chairman, has been collecting comic books for 16
years and values his collection at about two thousandGUY GETS 'EM
dollars.
