The house is just off Main Street in Johnson City.
It has a new coat of white paint and a new sign out
front. The house was the boyhood home of Lyndon
Johnson. His parents bought it in 1914 when the
president was six years old. He grew up there. He
made his first political speech
and took his oath of office as a Congressman on its
front steps. In 1952, a relative bought the place,
but two years ago the president bought it back and
it's been restored to its small-town elegance.
Today, the home is officially designated a Texas
historical site.GUY AT CLOTH
