Parker County Commissioners/solved a problem that's
been plaguing them since last Wednesday. They declared
the office of sheriff officially vacant...then
re-appointed ex-sheriff John Young to the job.
Minutes later, County Judge Bill Ward swore Young into
office, along with his six deputies. Young originally
took office on January first, but, late Wednesday, it
was discovered that he had failed to file a surety
bond within the twenty days required by state law.
The Department of Public Safety was asked to send
additional patrolmen to take over law
enforcement in the county, while County Attorney
Alex Tandy consulted with the State Attorney General's
office.SOUND FILM IN - RUNS L3 SECS,,
