A small note next to this reads "I would also be very(underlined) concerned." The hand-written letter that follows the end of the typed one reads "May 29, 1990 Dr. McCarter__ In much haste...apparently Amber was confused about what she must complete in terms of art studios. The reason that I questioned so strongly was because I have had such respect for the North Texas (Art) teachers preparation. It seemed to me that Amber was not really in the Fine Arts(underlined) program and as such was not being counseled into enough art studios, art history, etc. to properly prepare her. The copies enclosed of your BFA program are strong, indeed. Your BFA program provides a strong (over) foundation for a beginning teacher. Perhaps Amber is confused about just what does and does not constitute studio work. At any rate, I am sure that the fine program in the UNT Art Dept. remains intact and when you talk with Amber I hope that she will avail herself of that strength. My grades are due tomorrow and my secretary is a figment of my imagination - so hope you can decipher this scribble cuneiform, rune, petroglyph, hieroglyph, syllabary, pictograph - in desperation I leave my mark NM. Best to you for a pleasant summer." An asterisk is included next to the list of writing forms and at the bottom connects to this note "When Amber completes her art history courses_she'll : understand all this nonsense! We must never get too busy for a chuckle..." Another note is included to the side that reads "Copy to Dr. Watt Black." On the document Nancy Miller's name is also circled and marked with a check.
