[Maps and Notes to Accompany an Expedition Narrative]

Description: Two maps that accompany a narrative about a U.S. expedition in 1849. The first sketch map is of the area around the Dead Sea (Scale ca. 1:126,720). The second sketch map details the area around the River Jordan (Scale ca. 1:63,360). Each map includes some landmarks of the area and depths including relief shown by hachures. An additional page (front and back) has handwritten notes containing the expense sheet from the expedition.

Corrosion of Magnesium Alloy ZK60A in Marine Atmosphere and Tidewater

Description: "The corrosion resistance of unprotected magnesium-zinc-zirconium alloy ZK60A was determined in a marine atmosphere and in tidewater. The unprotected alloy was so rapidly attacked in tidewater that it would be of no practical value in applications subject to wetting by sea water. In the marine atmosphere the rate of corrosion was much less and the alloy should give good service if adequately protected" (p. 1).

Description: This report and three appendixes were issued separately, but are cataloged as a unit. The necessity for treatment of hot laundry and decontamination room wastes prior to disposal at the out, and means for accomplishing this are discussed. A feasible procedure suggested consists of an adsorptionflocculation treatment with supernate disposal by dilution, pass through an evaporator, transfer to surge and decay tanks, with final sludge concentration in drums for retention and burial at sea.
