The Effects of a Group Vocational Counseling Method on Selected Variables Among Community College Students

Description: The problem of this study is to evaluate the effectiveness of a group vocational counseling method among community college students. The purposes of this study are to present an application of developmental counseling to group vocational counseling with community college students, and to determine whether this vocational counseling program will have an effect upon certain selected variables. Self-concept congruence was measured by a semantic differential, the Personal Concept Scale; and vocatio… more

The Effect of Group Assertiveness Training on Selected Cognitive Variables

Description: This study was conducted to investigate whether cognitive variables (as measured by six self-report inventories) covaried with changes in behavior following group assertiveness training as postulated by several assertiveness training theorists and practitioners. Statistical analysis of the data did not support any of the hypotheses. No significant differences were found between the groups on any of the self-report measures or the behavioral ratings, although experimental group subjects consiste… more

Physical realisation of n greater than or equal to 4 vector models

Description: Renormalization group analysis of several n greater than or equal to 4 systems was performed. The first-order transitions in Cr, Eu, UO/sub 2/, MnO, and TbP can be explained by noting that the Hamiltonians have no stable fixed-points in 4-epsilon dimensions. The phase transitions in TbAu/sub 2/, DyC/sub 2/, Tb, Ho, Dy, TbD/sub 2/, Nd, MnS/sub 2/, and K/sub 2/IrCl/sub 6/ are described by n greater than or equal to 4 Hamiltonians with a stable fixed point; critical exponents corresponding to this… more

Tabular and graphical presentation of 175 neutron group constants derived from the LLL Evaluated Neutron Data Library (ENDL). [88 different materials]

Description: As of April 1, 1976, the LLL Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (ENDL) had been used to derive 175 neutron group constants. In this volume, tables and graphs of the constants are presented along with the conventions used in their preparation.

LIB-IV, a library of group constants for nuclear reactor calculations. [50-group, 101-isotope library generated with MINX from ENDF/B-IV]

Description: A 50-group, 101-isotope library of multigroup constants for nuclear reactor design is described. Nuclear cross sections, self-shielding factors, transfer matrices, and delayed neutron data were generated with MINX and NJOY using evaluated data from ENDF/B-IV. The output is in the CCCC-III interface format. Test results are presented for six CSEWG benchmark critical assemblies.

Di-hedral symmetry and charge conjugation

Description: The charge conjugation C and the parity P are assumed to generate a finite group without assuming any apriori commutation or anti-commutation relation. The group then generated is the di-hedral group D/sub n/ (n being even) which has two dimensional irreducible representations. This implies that we could have in principle, elementary particles with parity and charge-conjugation doublet structure.

Research in nuclear chemistry. Annual progress report, September 15, 1975--December 31, 1976. [Dept. of Chemistry, Carnegie-Mellon Univ. , Pittsburgh]

Description: Experimental studies in which the perturbations of gamma-ray angular correlations were used to observe and measure the interactions of nuclear moments with chemically generated electric field gradients are reported. Such quadrupole interactions can provide detailed information on molecular structure and chemical bonding. Experiments were completed with /sup 181/Hf binding to Vitamin B/sub 12/ and /sup 181/Hf and /sup 111/Ag probes in DNA, as well as /sup 181/Hf studies of several inorganic comp… more

The Group

Description: This is an original, serious, three-act play for eleven characters. The drama focuses on a group therapy situation involving three women patients, two men patients, and their therapist. Flashbacks are utilized to provide knowledge of the characters' pasts. Role playing, dream analysis, and behavior modification are some of the tools employed by the counselor. While the therapist does utilize these techniques adequately, his own personal problems prevent him from being as effective as he might b… more

An Approach to Teaching Adults to Play Beginning Piano through the Use of Educational Television

Description: The purpose of this paper is to establish a need for more accessible fine arts courses offered to adults and more specifically in music, to design a series of programs that would give an introduction to beginning functional piano through the use of educational television. The paper includes ten lesson outlines for thirty minute program segments including a pilot script. This educational television series is designed to stimulate the student's continued playing of the piano with guided instructi… more

The Application of Group Contingent Reinforcement to Retarded Adults

Description: Two groups of eleven retarded adults each were used as subjects. An individually consequated token economy was in effect during baseline-1 for both groups. The treatment phase of the experiment consisted of group consequation, the first group receiving a high rate of reinforcement and the second group receiving a low rate. The individual token system was reinstated for both groups during baseline-2 measures. Attending behavior and work output were measured during each phase of the experiment. S… more

Statistical mechanics of lattice Boson field theory

Description: A lattice approximation to Euclidean, boson quantum field theory is expressed in terms of the thermodynamic properties of a classical statistical mechanical system near its critical point in a sufficiently general way to permit the inclusion of an anomalous dimension of the vacuum. Using the thermodynamic properties of the Ising model, one can begin to construct nontrivial (containing scattering) field theories in 2, 3 and 4 dimensions. It is argued that, depending on the choice of the bare cou… more

LINX and BINX: CCCC utility codes for the MINX multigroup processing code

Description: The LINX and BINX codes were written to manipulate multigroup cross- section libraries in the CCCC format. The LINX code is used to merge two ISOTXS or BRKOXS libraries. The BINX code is used to convert any ISOTXS, BRKOXS, or DLAYXS library from binary to BCD mode or back with the option to list all or any part of the library. These codes are utilities for the MINX multigroup processing system. 2 tables (auth)

Water Resources of the Warm Springs Indian Reservation, Oregon

Description: From introduction: The present study is an inventory and appraisal of the water resources of the reservation, including determination of flow in major streams, yield of water to wells and springs, and quality of water. This study was conducted in cooperation with the Confederated Tribes of the Warm Springs Reservation. The cooperation and assistance of many officials of the Confederated Tribes, of the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and of the Indian Health Service helped greatly. Well-drilling and t… more

The Beginning Piano Class at the College Level

Description: The problem was to investigate current thoughts concerning the beginning piano class at the college level, Data were collected from published and unpublished materials from 1964 to 1976. It was found that class piano instruction usually occurs in a three- to four-semester sequence, with classes meeting from two to five periods per week, containing from four to twenty-five students. Classification of students is by interview, placement test, and/or audition. Varying room arrangements are used wi… more

AMP (Activity Manipulation Program)

Description: AMP is a FORTRAN IV program written to handle energy-group structured activity factors such as sources, conversion factors, and response functions, as used by ANISN, DOT III, and other nuclear reactor and shielding codes. Activities may be retrieved from ANISN-type cross-section and activity sets found on cards and tapes, and from tabular-type sets on cards. They may be altered by change of group structure, multiplication by a constant, or multiplication by delta E (the group-energy interval), … more

Hyperscaling in the Ising model

Description: The high temperature series expansions relevant to the hyperscaling relation ..delta.. = /sup 1///sub 2/(d..nu.. + ..gamma..) are extended and reexamined. Hyperscaling is found to hold in 2 dimensions as expected, but fails in 3 and 4 dimensions. The triviality of hyperstrong-coupling, Euclidean, Boson, phi/sup 4/ field theory follows.
