Description: Recording of Alcides Lanza's Sensors IV performed in 1984 by the McGill Concert Choir, conducted by Christopher Reynolds. The tape was realized at the Composer's studio (SHELAN Studio) and McGill University EMS in Montreal, QC, Canada. Carousel

Description: Recording of Reed Holmes's Carousel for choir and tape. The two movements represent a different aspect in the cycle of life: movement 1 "The Whispering Wind" is from the point of view of the Elder, introspective and thoughtful, and movement 2 "Carousel" is from the point of view of the Younger, rhythmic, aggressive, spontaneous, and freely melodic. The choir adds heterophonic elaborations of the pattern to the second movement.

Madrigal

Description: Recording of Zoltán Pongrácz's Madrigal for tape. The aim of the composer was to create a madrigal, one of the most aristocratic of the choral genres of the Renaissance, through electronic means. He uses the characteristics of the Italian madrigal as an element of the musical color to create effects of the Gothic choral music. Pacem mundo

Description: Recording of Iván Patachich's "Pacem mundo" ("World Peace") for tape. Uses both concrete and electronic sound materials. The piece begins with a vocal ensemble with a soprano soloist that eventually becomes noticeably electronically manipulated. From then on, the piece switches between the vocal ensemble and other electronic sound material.

Spiritus

Description: Recording of Lennart Westman's Spiritus. This is a work for audio and video and consists of 3 movements: 1. Passacaglia Spiritus, 2. Spiritus Animatus, and 3. Graal Hommage. The work as a whole was inspired by the poetry of the Swedish poet, Gustaf Fröding as well as the music of Bach. All three movements premiered at ICMC2002 in Gothenburg, Sweden. The work consists of synthesized sounds as well as segments performed by a four-part choir with singers from two Stockholm choirs.

Vigsel

Description: Recording of Lennart Westman's Vigsel. This piece is the second movement of home land trilogy. This work includes four voices from the Swedish Radio choir and electronically processed sounds of a violin, a cello, and sounds of nature. The lyrics of this piece are from a poem by Lennart Westman himself and reflects the journey back to his earth. The title of this piece alludes to the reunion with the forests and waters of Westman's own childhood.

Dialogue avec Wittgenstein

Description: Recording of Dieter Kaufmann's Dialogue avec Wittgenstein. This work is built on fragments of philosophical text spoken in both French and German, as well as various musical segments by composers Beethoven, Brahms, Bruckner, and the composer himself. The work was produces at the ELAK Institute of the University of Vienna Music and had two premieres. The German version in Vienna (1999) and the French version in Bourges (1999).

Flights of Fancy

Description: Recording of Jon Christopher Nelson's Flights of Fancy. This work, for fireworks and tape, was written as the grand finale to the Grand Opening Concert of the Murchison Performing Arts Complex at the University of North Texas and premiered at the event. The piece incorporates a variety of musical excerpts that were performed throughout the concert as well as sample sounds of fireworks. It was premiered simultaneously with a fireworks display.

Pater noster

Description: Recording of Miklos Sugar's Pater noster. This work was composed for the female choir Musica Nostra and its choirmaster Zsuzsanna Mindszenty. Description: Recording of Jorge Rapp's Tres momentos. This work was produced at Rapp's CEM Sound Laboratory and the eight channel version was composed in the LIPM. The composer separates the piece into three sections: the first is dedicated to electronic sounds, the second consists of a processed male voice, and the third incorporates a modified choir sound mixed with materials from the first two sections.

In Die Resurrectionis

Description: Recording of Luigi Ceccarelli's In Die Resurrectionis. This is an electro-acoustic installation for the basilica of San Vitale inspired by the 12th century sacred musical tradition of Ravenna. This work was commissioned by the Ravenna Festival. The composer describes this work as his exploration of the relationship between music and spirituality, using Gregorian chant and traditional choral music to emphasize this.
