Development of a procedure to estimate runoff and sediment transport in ephemeral streams

Description: A distributed hydrologic model for application on small, semiarid watersheds is developed. The distributed model incorporates simplified routing schemes to include the influence of transmission losses on runoff. A sediment transport model, by sediment size fractions, is developed to compute transport capacity and sediment yield in noncohesive, alluvial channels. Description: Walker Branch Watershed is located on the Oak Ridge Reservation in the Ridge and Valley section of Tennessee. The watershed (97 ha consisting of 2 subwatersheds) is underlain by Knox Dolomite; soils formed over the dolomitic substrate are deep, well-drained Typic Paleudults. The watershed is forested. The new definitive map of White Oak Lake

Description: A map of White Oak Lake was drawn from points on the shoreline established with the use of an electronic distance-measuring theodolite and a hand-held reflecting prism. Average water depths were determined along six transects. A planimeter was used to estimate the area of each section. The volume of each section was determined by multiplying the surface area by the average depth. Active layer hydrology for Imnavait Creek, Toolik, Alaska

Description: The hydrology of the active layer of a watershed is described. In the annual hydrologic cycle, snowmelt is the most significant event at Imnavait Creek located near Toolik Lake, Alaska. Description: The behavior of arctic ecosystems is directly related to the ongoing physical processes of heat and mass transfer. Glacial geology of the West Tensleep Drainage Basin, Bighorn Mountains, Wyoming

Description: The glacial deposits of the West Tensleep Basin in the Bighorn Mountains of Wyoming are mapped and a relative chromology established. The deposits are correlated with the regional model as defined in the Wind River Mountains. Panther Creek, Idaho, Habitat Rehabilitation, Final Report.

Description: The purpose of the project was to achieve full chinook salmon and steelhead trout production in the Panther Creek, Idaho, basin. Plans were developed to eliminate the sources of toxic effluent entering Panther Creek. Description: The USFWS Mid-Columbia River Fishery Resource Office conducted snorkel surveys at 24 sites during the summer and fall periods of 2006 survey periods as part of the Integrated Status and Effectiveness Monitoring Program in the Entiat River.
