Computer program SCAP-BR for gamma-ray streaming through multi-legged ducts

Description: A computer program, SCAP-BR, has been developed at Burns and Roe for the gamma-ray streaming analysis through multi-legged ducts. SCAP-BR is a modified version of the single scattering code, SCAP, incorporating capabilities of handling multiple scattering and volumetric source geometries. Solar heating system at Security State Bank, Starkville, Mississippi. Final report

Description: Information is provided on the Solar Energy Heating System (airtype) installed at the branch bank building, northwest corner of Highway 12 and Spring Street, Starkville, Mississippi. Fire protection countermeasures for containment ventilation systems

Description: The goal of this project is to find countermeasures to protect High Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters, in exit ventilation ducts, from the heat and smoke generated by fire. Initially, methods were developed to cool fire-heated air by fine water spray upstream of the filters. Hypothetical air ingress scenarios in advanced modular high temperature gas cooled reactors

Natural convection airflow and heat transport in buildings: experimental results

Description: Observations of natural convection airflow in passive solar buildings are described. Particular results are given for two buildings supplementing other data already published. A number of generalizations based on the monitoring of the 15 buildings are presented. It is concluded that energy can be reasonably well distributed throughout a building by natural convection provided suitable openings are present and that the direction of heat transport is either horizontally across or upward.

The impact of duct-to-duct interaction on the hex duct dilation

Description: Dilation of the hex duct is an important factor in the operational lifetime of fuel subassemblies in liquid metal fast reactors. It is caused primarily by the irradiation-enhanced creep and void swelling of the hex duct material. Theoretical approach for enhanced mass transfer effects in-duct flue gas desulfurization processes

Remote video radioactive process evaluation, Savannah River Site

Description: Specialized miniature low cost video equipment has been effectively used in a number of remote, radioactive, and contaminated environments at the Savannah River Site (SRS). Waste-heat exchange system. Final technical report

Description: The construction of a simple wind suction tunnel is described using one 4' x 8' sheet of interior plywood (1/4'') paneling board painted white and installation of one small 110 volt barrel type fan to pull warm air from the ceiling of a classroom and forcing air across the otherwise cool floor area. Warmer air that collects near the ceiling (waste heat) can, therefore, be reused (exchanged) thus requiring less use of energy consumption by existing heating system.
