QCD Evolution of the Transverse Momentum Dependent Correlations

Description: We study the QCD evolution for the twist-three quark-gluon correlation functions associated with the transverse momentum odd quark distributions. Different from that for the leading twist quark distributions, these evolution equations involve more general twist-three functions beyond the correlation functions themselves. They provide important information on nucleon structure, and can be studied in the semi-inclusive hadron production in deep inelastic scattering and Drell-Yan lepton pair produ… more

Real time correlation function in a single phase spaceintegral--beyond the linearized semiclassical initial valuerepresentation

Description: It is shown how quantum mechanical time correlation functions [defined, e.g., in Eq. (1.1)] can be expressed, without approximation, in the same form as the linearized approximation of the semiclassical initial value representation (LSC-IVR), or classical Wigner model, for the correlation function [cf. Eq. (2.1)], i.e., as a phase space average (over initial conditions for trajectories) of the Wigner functions corresponding to the two operators. The difference is that the trajectories involved … more

Pion interferometry and resonances in pp and AA collisions

Description: We study the sensitivity of pion interferometry in {bar p}p and {bar p}p collisions at ISR energies to the resonance abundance. We show that those data are not compatible with the full resonance fractions predicted by the Lund model. The preliminary S+S and O+Au data at 200 GeV are, however, not incompatible with the Lund predictions, although their sensitivity to resonances is significantly weaker than in the pp/{bar p}p case.

Specular and diffuse x-ray scattering from tungsten/carbon multilayers having a high reflectivity at 10 keV.

Description: X-ray scattering measurements at 10 keV from multilayers having a period of 24.8 {angstrom} and consisting of 100 W/C bilayers are reported. Specular scans revealed first order reflectivities in the range 73.5% to 78.0% with bandpasses in the range of 1.5% to 1.7%. Total roughness (or interface grading) values deduced from fitting were in the range 2.5 to 3.0 for the last-to-grow surface of the W layers. Diffuse scattering measurements were made in a novel geometry that permitted investigation … more

Linearized Semiclassical Initial Value Time Correlation FunctionsUsing the Thermal Gaussian Approximation: Applications to Condensed PhaseSystems

Description: The linearized approximation to the semiclassical initial value representation (LSC-IVR) has been used together with the thermal Gaussian approximation (TGA) (TGA/LSC-IVR) to simulate quantum dynamical effects in realistic models of two condensed phase systems. This represents the first study of dynamical properties of the Ne13 Lennard-Jones (LJ) cluster in its liquid-solid phase transition region (temperature from 4 K to 14 K). Calculation of the force autocorrelation function shows considerab… more

Binary Quasars in the Sloan Digital Sky Survey: Evidence for Excess Clustering on Small Scales

Description: We present a sample of 218 new quasar pairs with proper transverse separations R{sub prop} < 1 h{sup -1} Mpc over the redshift range 0.5 < z < 3.0, discovered from an extensive follow up campaign to find companions around the Sloan Digital Sky Survey and 2dF Quasar Redshift Survey quasars. This sample includes 26 new binary quasars with separations R{sub prop} < 50 h{sup -1} kpc ({theta} < 10''), more than doubling the number of such systems known. We define a statistical sample … more
