Ion bombardment in RF photoguns

Description: A linac-ring eRHIC design requires a high-intensity CW source of polarized electrons. An SRF gun is viable option that can deliver the required beam. Numerical simulations presented elsewhere have shown that ion bombardment can occur in an RF gun, possibly limiting lifetime of a NEA GaAs cathode. Results of LEBT/MEBT reconfiguration at BNL 200 MeV LINAC

Description: The low energy (35 keV) and medium energy (750 keV) transport lines for both polarized and unpolarized H{sup -} have been reconfigured to reduce the beam emittance and beam losses out of the 200 MeV Linac. The medium energy line in the original layout was 7 m long, and had ten quadrupoles, two beam choppers, and three bunchers. NSLS-II Lattice Optimization with Damping Wigglers

Description: NSLS-II, the third-generation light source which will be built at BNL is designed and optimized for 3 GeV energy, ultra-small emittance and high intensity of 500 mA. It will provide very bright synchrotron radiation over a large spectral range from IR to hard X-rays. BNL 703 MHz SRF cryomodule demonstration

A proof-of-principle experiment of the ferroelectric tuner for the 1.3 GHz gun cavity

Description: A novel ferroelectric frequency tuner was developed by the Ornega-P company and was tested at the Brookhaven National Laboratory on a 1.3 GHz RF cavity at room temperature. The tuner is based on the ferroelectric property of having a permittivity variable with an applied electric field. MeRHIC - staging approach to eRHIC

Construction of the BNL EBIS preinjector

Description: A new heavy ion preinjector, consisting of an Electron Beam Ion Source (EBIS), an RFQ, and IH linac, is under construction at Brookhaven National Laboratory. This preinjector win provide ions of any species at an energy of 2 MeV/u, resulting in increased capabilities for the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider, and the NASA Space Radiation Laboratory programs. Development of High Stability Supports for NSLS-II RF BPMS
