This report reflects the efforts of the Office of the Orinoco-Apure Project to define an environmental policy based research delineating priority areas of research and identification of potential environmental impacts of the project.
This report is on a study to quantify the production of sediment created by erosion in the upper basin of the Rio Santo Domingo dam site and determine the magnitude of the problem of sedimentation in the "Hydroelectric Complex General Jose Antonio Paez" reservoir.
This report is section three of a study of the Llanos del Rio Orinoco. The aim of the study is to establish relationships between the characteristics of plant communities of the Central Plains of Venezuela and geomorfogenetica and pedogenic evolution during the Quaternary.
This report includes sections one and two of a study of the Llanos del Rio Orinoco. The aim of this study is to establish relationships between the characteristics of plant communities of the Central Plains of Venezuela and geomorfogenetica and pedogenic evolution during the Quaternary.
Report on the PAN-EARTH Sub-Saharan Africa Workshop. This workshop focused on the effects of global climate changes on the agriculture and ecology of the countries of sub-Saharan Africa.
This poster discusses research on building a solar powered PIR security system to monitor wildlife. Researchers introduce the concept of off-grid wildlife video monitoring using a security system, a microcontroller, passive infrared motion sensor and the solar panels with a battery bank.
This report discusses the Assessment of Impacts of Global Climatic Changes on the Venezuelan Agricultural System Workshop, as part of the PAN-EARTH Project, Venezuela case study.
This report discusses the Ecological Effects Assessment of Climatic changes in Venezuela Workshop, organized by the PAN-EARTH Project and the Centre for Ecology of the Venezuelan Institute for Scientific Research (IVIC). The main objective was the evaluation of the effects of climate changes on the main ecosystems in Venezuela using ecological models.
Report on a Modeling Crop and Climate Change workshop. The objectives of the workshop were: 1) train Venezuelan scientists in the use of agricultural models IBSNAT program (International Benchmark Sites Network for Agrotechnology Transfer), including discussions about their applicability and the acquisition of knowledge about the data needed for proper simulation and validation, 2) Calibrate the model of maize (CERES) for different cultivars and different regions of Venezuela using data from soil and climate corresponding to various tests, 3) Carry out model simulations under various climate scenarios to assess their potential effects on crops, 4) To strengthen the cooperation between users of IBSNAT models to make necessary tests to get a better database application thus facilitating validation and calibration of these models, and 5) To establish plans for future agricultural and meteorological research in the context of global climate change.
