In the early 1990s he won an award from district industries center (DIC) Chandel for the best piece of cane work. Kongpe village has good quality cane grown in the wild that made the villagers to use it for different types of cane.

Kotap Dilbung from Angbrasu village standing with a drum on the left hand side and Bunghon (Malikapa) Sankhil of Phaaidaam, drummer on the right handside singing the folk song.
