Right wing’s gay puppetmaster did
political work for Sessions in ’94
Gays stunned by contradiction in Finkelstein’s sexual
orientation, work for candidates like Jesse Helms
ing two children together in "semi-out
status among the North Shore horse
society."
"Even in the remarkably amoral
world of political consultants,
Finkelstein is unusual," wrote Stephen

Sultry James Dean still an icon for gays
By Ted Anthony
ASSOCIATED PRESS
Much of today's concept of "cool"
came from one man — one moody boy,
really: James Dean.
He was a man encumbered with the

Jett Rink of Giant, who was allowed to
age but not grow into a man.

Democratic congressional candidate
John Pouland is calling his Republican
opponent a hypocrite for espousing
anti-gay views while employing a gay
pollster during his 1994 campaign.
In its October edition, Boston
Magazine ran an expose on the private
life of prominent but highly secretive
GOP strategist Arthur J. Finkelstein,
who has worked for such anti-gay
Senators as Jesse Helms, Don Nickels,
Bob Smith, and Lauch Faircloth.
According to the magazine, Finkelstein
is gay, lives with his partner in a palatial
Tudor-style home in Ipswich,
Massachusetts, and the couple are rais-
