Michelle: She's (Cristy) petrified
Specialist Cristy Castillo, in reserves for about four years
Michelle: I know she'll (Cristy) be within 25 miles of the border.
They're (C.'s unit at Fort Hood) waiting on their equipment. She's been
at Fort Hood since Dec. 1. Now she's dealing with it, but the fear's
still there. At least now she will admit it, she'll say 'Shit, yes, I'm
scared.' At first she wouldn't admit it.
Becky goes to sleep and she fights in her sleep.
Michhelle says Cristy said, "I am so scared. I don't know what I'm
doing."
Michelle: Everybody in her (Cristy's) whole section is gay. Nobody
messes with them. As long as they do their jobs, nobody says
anything about it.
Christy is 25
We did not know she had not shipped out. We thought they were gone.
Cristy called yesterday (Sunday). She may get to come home Friday.
Michelle: Becky has had nightmares about Cristy being in the Persian
Gulf."We should be there together." (Becky as in Navy 21 days but
they booted her out for her knees.) It's had a real weird effect on
Becky. She's not eating right anymore.
Michelle: Wed. Becky had just come home from work (when the
announcement came that U.S. was at war. You could see her muscles
get tense. It was that noticeable. She won't cry, but she cries in her
sleep. Every night, she's there, she's fighting that war in her sleep.
