Student Life
Division of Student Affairs
The Division of Student Affairs
offers a wide variety of opportunities
for academic and personal growth,
leadership development, and
organizational involvement. Spe-
cific offices under the direction of the
Dean of Students include Finan-
cial Aid, Career Planning and Place-
ment, Counseling and Testing,
Cooperative Education, International
Programs, Student Association,
and the Coliseum.
Dean of Students
The Office of the Dean of Students
is committed to the improvement
of the quality of life for students and
to the enhancement of their com-
petencies as productive citizens.
The office advocates responsible
behavior, supports learning, and
promotes the attainment of personal
and cultural goals through var-
ied activities.
Staff members are available
for general counseling, information,
and help with any phase of
campus life. In emergency situations
special assistance can be pro-
vided for notification of professors,
withdrawal, etc. Financial infor-
mation and referrals to possible
resources are available. The
office provides policy interpretation
and rights adjustment upon
request, handles disciplinary and
social adjustment problems, and
provides honors recognition activities.
Self-development opportunities
and enrichment activities are provided
via a number of subunits:
Intercultural Services provides cul-
tural enhancement activities and
academic support programs for minor-
ity and disadvantaged students;
Services to the Handicapped fur-
nishes registration, scheduling and
access assistance and help with
educational and personal needs and
problems; Student Employment
Service provides assistance in
finding part-time work on and off
campus; Services for Women, Com-
muters and Returning Students providesinformation and assistance for
women and orientation and special
advisement for returning students.
Career Planning and
Placement Service
The University provides a Career
Planning and Placement Service
which is available to seniors, graduate
students and all former students.
Every effort is made to assist regis-
tered candidates as they seek
full-time employment in education,
business, industry, government,
or with service organizations.
The office has information on
employers, employment, salaries
and supply/demand trends, as well
as other aids in the job search.
Seniors, graduate students,
and students pursuing only teacher
certification should register with
the service during the school year in
which the degree and/or certifi-
cation will be achieved. They may
register at any time during the
school year, but are strongly urged to
register at the very beginning of
the final year in order to utilize all the
services which are offered.
There is no fee for placement
registration; however, there are
some mailing fees.Cooperative Education
The University offers off-campus
learning opportunities (paid
internships) through the Cooperative
Education program. Cooperative
Education internships are processes
of education which formally inte-
grate the students' academic
study with practical experience
in cooperating organizations.
Through this integration of study and
practical experience, students may
enhance their academic knowl-
edge, their personal development,
and their professional prepara-
tion. The teaching faculty and the
on-site supervisors share in the
education of interns. Alternating
semester (full-time), parallel
(part-time) and summer (full-time or
part-time) positions are available
through the program director for
undergraduate students who
have a 2.5 or higher grade point
average, and have completed at
least 12 hours at NTSU. Graduate
students must have a 3.0 or
higher grade point average and be
admitted to a graduate program.
Openings are available primarily for
juniors, seniors, and master's
students.

Health Center.
