NEWS BULLETIN WINTER 2003 ,'<,1TXSSAR PRESIDENT'S REPORT from the BOM in Kerrville, TX
Nov. 7-8-9, 2003
To each and every TXSSAR Officer, Chapter President and
Compatriot: Thank you for continuing to support the Texas Society
with your outstanding work. Each of you make a difference for the
future of The Texas Society. Each Compatriot needs to continue to give
of their time, talent, and gifts. Recommitment to America,
recommitment to the SAR and recommitment to your families is
essential in 2003.
MEMORIALS: We have lost many of our Compatriots this year-
young and elderly. Please be certain that your chapter recognizes each
and every Compatriot and that our Chaplain,Rev. Douglas Harper is
notified promptly. May we add that we can recognize these deceased
Compatriots with appropriate gifts in their names to various TXSSAR
and NSSAR trusts such as The Patriots Fund, or the NSSAR Library;
or Chapters for scholarships, flags, grave markers, etc. We can always
personally assist the widows and families in their hours of grief or at
funerals or ceremonies or family reunions.
MEMBERSHIP: We need each and every Compatriot's assistance
to make certain that each member's dues are promptly paid BEFORE
December 25th, 2003. Remember our year runs from Jan. 1st through
Dec. 31st each year. We need each and every Chapter Officer to see
that each member of their Chapter is contacted for these dues and for
future members. New applications need to be submitted asp.
Supplementals are needed as they assist other new and existing
members attain their Membership. We need to have each Chapter Officer review their Chapter
membership for correct names, spelling, addresses, phone numbers; and
advise Secretary Marrs. We save thousands of dollars as well as time by
doing this. Also check Area Codes on phones. We need to have each
Chapter review the Chapter members that have been dropped for the
last ten years. Personally contact each and every one. Times change,
events change or maybe families even change. Discover new programs
for your Chapter through these same Compatriots. Have them re-visit
your Chapter or assist your Chapter in Chapter activities or programs.
Last, be certain that each Compatriot has a chance to contribute to
the SAR , even if it is a simple task, or a complex task. Our TXSSAR
Compatriots are full of talents and knowledge. Show enthusiasm,
patriotism and positiveness!
MEDALS AND AWARDS: Look around. How long has it been since
your Chapter honored a fellow Compatriot with 60-50-40-30-20 years
service with the SAR Service Pin? Or a War Medal? Or an outstanding
deed or service to your community? Or asked a fellow Compatriot to
give a program on his ancestor or patriot? And we always need
nominations for medals for TXSSAR medals and NSSAR medals.
HISTORY OF TEXAS SOCIETY SAR: each Compatriot can start
writing their own personal summary account of your life on one page
and a summary account of their Ancestor and send it to our TXSSAR
Historian. If each completes this simple task we will have over 6,000
pages and numerous volumes to contribute and save in our new NSSAR
Library. This can become a research center for our families and
descendants.
FINANCES: The strength and growth of the Texas Society has always
been financially sound even in these delicate financial times, thanks to
each and every Compatriot and each Chapter efforts. It is amazing how
our Chapters are finding the financial means to move forward in
patriotism, education, membership, and activities. Many thanks to each
Chapter and Compatriot seeing that the Texas Society continues to grow!
SHARING: Chapters are working together and sharing programs,
information, talents, and family ancestor information, genealogy work
seminars, computer and technical information. Programs for both Family
reunions; State recognitions, school programs are all being completed at
record levels this years across this State of Texas. Need help? Contact
your nearest Chapter, your TXSSAR Officer, your own Compatriots! Or
share it via the computer, Chapter web-site, TXSSAR web-site, the NSSAR
web-site or the telephone !
COMMITTEES: Share your knowledge, talents and history by
attaching yourself to a TXSSAR Committee. Get to know your District
V.President, Committee Chairmen or your Chapter Officers. They need
your help and talents. You have the means to do so at your own pace
and time and place.
THANKS: Let us always remember to give thanks for this Great
Nation, our Great State and our Great People. In God We Still Do TRUST,
but He Needs US in the
USA. Many thanks for
all to do you,
