Image 2 is a chart of creatures with lots of different shapes and features that look familiar but not quite real. At the top, under the drawings as labels, and as paragraphs beneath them all is a secret code that the entire book is written in. Image 3 is of a dual-sided rhinoceros; the larger side has a figure rising up where its horn should be and the figure is holding a pole with stings and hooks on it. The hooks are peeling back the skin and revealing a second smaller rhinoceros that is facing the other way.
