3. Based on a comparison of vertical and horizontal
permeability determinations, all St. Peter sands
appear to be anisotropic.
a. In general, vertical green sand permeabilities
are less than horizontal permeabilities. This
is due to the presence of horizontal lamina-
tions of detrital clay matrix which occur through-
out the green sand interval.
b. Although white sand porosities and permeabilities
appear to be independent, a crude correlation
may exist. Permeability appears to depend more
on cementation than on vertical or horizontal
orientations.
c. Generally, vertical permeabilities of medium to
dark gray sands are greater than horizontal
permeabilities. This is probably due to the
fact that selective flow paths have been de-
veloped in this direction.
