Information was provided by James Michael Click, husband to Kevin Edward Young (1955-1990), and creator of the quilt panel in honor of his deceased love. "This quilt panel was presented on October 1993, at The Quilt at Will Rogers Coliseum, Fort Worth. The display was a huge success, raising over $22,000 which was distributed to local AIDS Service Organizations (ASOs). [The making of the quilt] was a huge step forward in my grief process as I mourned our relationship. The second panel was more a celebration of Kevin's life, with the pictures documenting his childhood, youth, and adulthood. The Latin inscription is a nod to his love of the language, and his accomplishment of being the President of his Latin Club in High School. The jacket was one he wore all the time. Inside one of the pockets are two ticket stubs to a George Strait concert we attended where Kathy Mattea was the opening act. I happened to meet Ms. Mattea in Washington at the last full display of the AIDS Memorial Quilt, and sat almost at her feet when she played and sang the song, "Seeds" at a small gathering of the display organizers. I told her about the ticket stubs; it was a lovely moment. I still miss, and will always miss, Kevin. During our last conversation, when death was near, he promised that if he were to die, he would be waiting for me when my turn came, and I promised the same to him. I believe him to this day."
