Abstract: The Open Access (OA) movement has become an increasingly important in shaping the ways that academic libraries provide services to support the creation, organization, management and use of digital contents. Many stakeholders hope that OA will offer researchers and users the opportunity to change the present ways in which information is stored, accessed, and disseminated. The University of North Texas (UNT) has been supporting OA initiatives for several years. In spite of the benefits of OA, we recognize that there are issues and concerns that affect not only students, faculty, libraries, institutions and academic publishers, but also users around the world. In light of the changing face of scholarly communication, this panel will bring together a number of stakeholders to discuss the trends from diverse perspectives.
