session by the students of the Department of Library
Service, North Texas State College, Denton, Texas.
T.L.A. AT ABILENE
At the meeting of the Texas Library Association in Abilene April 7-9, Dr.
A.M. Sampley was elected president for the next year. Dr. Sampley presided at
the First General Session, Thursday night, April 7, at which time Dr. E.W.
McDiarmid, president of the American Library Association, spoke.
Fredonia Sikes, Kilgore, was elected Secretary-Treasurer of the College
Libraries Division. Willie Lee Casey, Olney, was elected Treasurer, and Er-
lene Williams, Austin, was elected Secretary, of the School Libraries Division.
"Human Relationships in the School Library" was the title of a panel dis-
cussion for which Miss Elenora Alexander, Houston, presided, and for which
Miss Virginia Clarke, N.T. Demonstration School Librarian, acted as moderator.
Others participating in this panel were Martha Kunkel, Paris, who spoke on
"Working with Pupils;" Alice Ree Carr, Holliday, who spoke on "Working with Pur
pil Assistants;" and Rule Guinn, Breckinridge, who spoke on "Working with the
Faculty." Mrs. Stella Sharp, Jacksboro, took part in a panel discussion in
the Children's Library Division.
Friday morning a North Texas breakfast was held, with the following in at-
tendance: Margaret Gordon McCleskey, Monahans; Earlene Senter, Odessa; Sangster
Parrott, Denton; Hazel Self, Nacogdoches; Dorothy Churchwell, Wichita Falls;
Adelle Harrell, Andrews; Agnes Nugent, Seymour; Willie Lee Casey, Olney; Ear-
nestine Meador Winn, Abilene; Mary Margaret Bolling, Fredericksburg; Lucille
Waddell, Baytown; Alice Ree Carr, Holliday; Inez Willoughby, Kilgore; J'Nell
Fowler, Overton; Margaret Cowan, Big Spring; Martha Kunkel, Paris; Fredonia
Sikes, Kilgore; Betty Crouch, Kilgore; Ruth Junkin, Austin; M aydell Potter, Den-
ton; Dona Peterson, Denton; Helen Fitch Wheat, Houston; Erlene Williams, Austin;
Nettie Crane, Amarillo; Celeste Widney, Longview; Elenora Alexander, Houston;
Mattie Ruth Moore, Austin; R.R. Douglass, Austin; A.M.Sampley, Denton; Dorothy

mailed to all school librarians within the next week or so. Copies will be
