BlockSolve v1. 1: Scalable Library Software for the Parallel Solution of Sparse Linear Systems

Description: BlockSolve is a software library for solving large, sparse systems of linear equations on massively parallel computers. The matrices must be symmetric, but may have an arbitrary sparsity structure. BlockSolve is a portable package that is compatible with several different message-passing pardigms. This report gives detailed instructions on the use of BlockSolve in applications programs.

Kxp and kxpl : a Busy Man's LaTeX

Description: This report introduces the following programs: kxp: a time-saving LaTeX preprocessor, kxpl: kxp plus latex, kxh: a help facility for kxp and LaTex, ptex: a program for printing a LaTeX document, and pptex: a program for printing parts of a LaTeX document. The DIF3D Nodal Neutronics Option for Two- and Three-dimensional Diffusion Theory Calculations in Hexagonal Geometry

Description: A nodal method is developed for the solution of the neutron-diffusion equation in two- and three-dimensional hexagonal geometries. Description: The growth of alpha-rolled uranium rods on thermal cycling has been shown to depend on both preferred orientation and grain size. Preferred orientation appears to be a necessary condition for growth to occur; the extent of the growth depends upon the sharpness and type of texture developed and on the grain size. Development of On-Line Monitoring Device to Detect the Presence/Absence of Sodium Vapor

Description: A process is being developed by the Sodium Waste Technology Program at ANL-W to remove metallic sodium from scrap and waste. The final step in the process is the removal of residual metallic sodium by evaporation at temperatures up to 482 C (900 F) and at pressures of about 10⁻² torr (1.3 Pa). Description: A Ca-Al-Si/FeS2 cell has been developed and has exhibited reasonably stable capacity through 3200 h of operation. This system is expected to be capable of meeting the ultimate performance goals (i.e., 160 W.h/kg) of this development program.
