A hybrid spectral/compact solver for variable-density viscous incompressible flow is described. Parallelization strategies for the FFTs and band-diagonal matrices are discussed and compared. Transpose methods are found to be highly competitive with direct block parallel methods when the problem is scaled to tens of thousands of processors.
