Uranium in the Dirty Devil Shimarump Channel Deposit

Description: From abstract: Uranium ores occur in a river channel deposit of composite type. Uranium and its daughter elements segregate during migration and each has its own accumulator. The entire deposit stays close to radioactive equilibrium but individual mineral components have departures up to 1000 fold.

Interpretation and Evaluation of the Uranium Occurences Near Goodsprings, Nevada: Final Report

Description: Abstract: The uranium occurrences near Goodsprings, Clark Co., Nevada, are divided into two distinct types which differ from each other in geographic distribution, localization of mineralization, mineralogy and origin. None of the known deposits is of present commercial significance and therefore this study emphasizes the genetic rather than the economic aspects.

A Geologic Report on the San Rafael Swell Drilling Project, San Rafael Swell, Utah

Description: From abstract: Twenty-two holes totaling 34,874 feet (10,629.6 meters) were rotary and core drilled on the northern and western flanks of the San Rafael Swell to test fluvial-lacustrine sequences of the Morrison Formation and the lower part of the Chinle Formation. The objective of the project was to obtain subsurface data so that improved uranium resource estimates could be determined for the area.

Geological Investigation of the Trachyte District, Henry Mountains, Utah

Description: Abstract: Uranium-vanadium ore has long been known in the Trachyte district. Production started in 1913 and has been erratic and intermittent to date. Until recently, practically all production from the Henry Mountains area has come from the Trachyte district.

Stream Sediment Detailed Geochemical Survey for Marysvale, Utah

Description: From abstract: Results of the Marysvale detailed geochemical survey are reported. Field and laboratory data are presented for 397 stream sediment samples and 160 radiometric readings. Statistical and areal distributions of uranium and possible uranium-related variables are displayed. A generalized geologic map of the area is provided, and pertinent geologic factors which may be of significance in evaluating the potential for uranium mineralization are briefly discussed.

Investigational Drilling, Hoskinnini Mesa

Description: From to the files: To date, all the mineralization seen in the Monument Valley area in the Shinarump formation has been in scour channels. The mineralized rock occurs at or near the bottom of the channel. On Hoskinnini Mesa, all the channels examined to date contain some mineralized material. Channels observed may in some cases contain copper without apparent uranium mineralization; others definitely exhibit copper-uranium mineralization.

Airborne Radioactivity Survey of Part of the Navajo Indian Reservation of Utah and Arizona

Description: From introduction: The purpose of an airborne radioactivity survey is to locate ground areas of higher than normal radioactivity which might lead to discovery of uranium mineralization. For this type of survey, gamma-ray detection equipment employing either a geiger counter or a scintillation counter can be mounted in a fixed wing aircraft or a helicopter.

Investigation of Shinarump Channels on Oljetoh Mesa, Arizona - Utah

Description: From to the files: The Shinarump-Moenkopi contact on Oljetoh Mesa in the Monument Valley district, Arizona-Utah, was examined from November 5 to 15, 1951, to determine the location of and the mineralization in Shinarump channels. Twenty-seven distinct channel outcrops were located and examined. Three of these channel outcrops are mineralized and the remaining 24 are barren. Plate I shows the distribution of the Shinarump, the Moenkopi, and the DeChelly member of the Cutler formation; the locati… more
