Component Technology for Laser Plasma Simulation

Description: This paper will discuss the application of high performance component software technology developed for a complex physics simulation development effort. The primary tool used to build software components is called Babel and is used to create language-independent libraries for high performance computers. Components were constructed from legacy code and wrapped with a thin Python layer to enable run-time scripting. Low-level components in Fortran, C++, and Python were composed directly as Babel c… more

Integrated system for production of neutronics and photonics calculational constants. Volume 21, Part C, Program SIGMAL (version 79-1): Doppler-broaden evaluated cross sections in the Livermore-Evaluated Nuclear Data Library (ENDL) format. [In FORTRAN IV for CDC 7600]

Description: A code, SIGMAL, to Doppler-broaden evaluated cross sections in the ENDL format was designed. This code can Doppler-broaden cross sections that result from neutrons, protons, deuterons, tritons, /sup 3/He, or alpha particles incident on any target nuclei. The code allows broadening to up to 100 final temperatures, either directly from the initial temperature or by bootstrapping to successively higher temperatures. 6 figures, 2 tables.

HEMP user's manual

Description: A computer program to solve the conservation equations of twodimensional elastic-plastic flow has been implemented at LLL on the CDC 7600 machine. The program, named HEMP, is written in an expanded FORTRAN IV language. This user's manual explains the operation and use of the program. A section is provided that will aid in converting the program to other machines and systems. (auth)

PALLOT: a FORTRAN code that produces graphical representations of nuclear blackout effects along a reentry trajectory

Description: The PALLOT code was developed to simplify the assimilation of data relating to effects of nuclear blackout on particular reentry trajectories. This code operates in three modes: azimuth, elevation, and inline, In the azimuth and elevation modes, the PALLOT picture represents a family of trajectories that only vary, respectively, in approach azimuth and impact elevation angle. The incline mode depicts a set of reentry vehicles approaching on the same trajectory through a nuclear environment. The… more

AN IBM 7090 FORTRAN PROGRAM FOR ASME UNFIRED PRESSURE VESSEL DESIGN AND PRELIMINARY COST ESTIMATION

Description: An IBM 7090 FORTRAN program was written for the preliminary design and cost estimation of unfired pressure vessels with or without a jacket. Both vessel and jacket designs conform to the 1959 ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section VIII, Unfired Pressure Vessels. Vessels and jackets from 5 in. pipe through 84 in. o.d. and 1/4 in. through 1 1/2 in. in metal thickness may be designed by this program as written. Total vessel cost is the sum of metal and fabrication costs, each on a weight ba… more

ROSE: Compiler Support for Object-Oriented Frameworks

Description: ROSE is a preprocessor generation tool for the support of compile time performance optimizations in Overture. The Overture framework is an object-oriented environment for solving partial differential equations in two and three space dimensions. It is a collection of C++ libraries that enables the use of finite difference and finite volume methods at a level that hides the details of the associated data structures. Overture can be used to solve problems in complicated, moving geometries using th… more
