The U5. 0 undulator design for the advanced light source at LBL

Description: The U5.0 undulator, currently under design, is the first in a series of insertion devices planned for the Advanced Light Source at LBL. U5.0 parameters include a 5 cm period, 5 m length with a 0.837 T maximum field at a 14 mm gap. A hybrid configuration utilizing Nd-Fe-B permanent magnet material and Vanadium Permendur poles is used for the magnetic structure. Optical design and performance of the X25 hybrid wiggler beam line at the NSLS

Description: The X25 beam line at the National Synchrotron Light Source (NSLS) began full-power commissioning in 1990. It extracts radiation from a 27 pole hybrid wiggler, which produces up to 1.8 kW of total power with a peak horizontal density of 450 W/mrad and critical energy of 4.6 keV. Operating experience with the ALS linac

Description: The linac injector for the Advanced Light Source (ALS) at LBL was recently put into operation. Energy is 50 MeV, frequency 3 GHz. The electron gun delivers up to 6nC in a 3.0-ns bunch at 120 kV. A train of bunches is injected into a 1-Hz booster and accelerated to 1.5 GHz for storage ring injection. A magnetic analysis system is used for optimizing the linac. Measured beam properties from the gun and after acceleration in the linac are described. 9 refs., 3 figs.

X-ray, soft x-ray, and vuv beam position monitor

Description: An x-ray beam position monitor has been developed and is currently operational at the NIST beamline X-24A of the National Synchrotron Light Source, Upton, NY. The Advanced Light Source U8 beam line, 20--300 eV

Description: The U8 is a beam line under construction at the Advanced Light Source (ALS). The beam line will be described along with calculations of its performance and its current status. Proposed uv-FEL user facility at BNL

Description: The NSLS at Brookhaven National Laboratory is proposing the construction of a UV-FEL operating in the wavelength range from visible to 750{Angstrom}. Prototype photon position monitors for undulator beams at the Advanced Light Source

An assessment of the effects of radiation on permanent magnet material in the ALS (Advanced Light Source) insertion devices

The NSLS VUV undulator: Spectral characteristics and operating experience

Description: The design and operating characteristics of the VUV undulator installed on the NSLS VUV ring are presented. Specifically, the spectral output through three circular on-axis pinholes of different diameters has been measured. Estimate of the coupling impedance for the storage rings of the NSLS

Description: The most important ingredient to evaluate the stability of a particle beam in a storage ring is the longitudinal coupling impedance Z/n and the transverse impedance Z/sub perpendicular/ which is usually associated to the former. These impedances are calculated for the two storage rings which are part of the NSLS, namely the Ultra Violet Ring (UVR) and the X-Ray Ring (XRR)-the parameters for these two rings which are used throughout the paper are shown.
