Optimization of microchannel plate multipliers for tracking minimum-ionizing particles

Description: The progress in development of special Microchannel Plates for particle tracking is reported. A TRANSISTORIZED ALPHA COUNTER FOR AN ALPHA GAUGE

Description: A transistorized instrument prototype was designed and constructed to replace a vacuum-tube instrument in an alpha gauge, which measures the thickness density of gases. The instrument amplifies, shapes, discriminates, and counts alpha pulses from a Au-Si surface-barrier detector exposed to an alpha source in a gas-filled chamber. Rf power sources for 1990 and beyond

D-T neutron generator development for cancer therapy. 1980 annual progress report

Description: This report summarizes the work completed during the first year of a two-year grant by NCI/HEW to investigate the feasibility of developing a D-T neutron generator for use in cancer therapy. Specific heat loading in Nd:glass lasers

Ceramic vacuum tubes for geothermal well logging

Description: Useful design data acquired in the evaluation of ceramic vacuum tubes for the development of a 500/sup 0/C instrumentation amplifier are presented. The general requirements for ceramic vacuum tubes are discussed for application to the development of high temperature well logs. Commercially available tubes are described and future contract activities that specifically relate to ceramic vacuum tubes are detailed. Supplemental data are presented in the appendix.
