A Survey of Selected Chinese Students in the United States to Determine How They Receive Hometown News

Description: The problem of this study was to determine how Chinese students obtain news from home. The study was conducted in Dallas, Fort Worth, and Denton, with 182 respondents from six universities. The study determined that Chinese students obtained Chinese news from Chinese newspapers circulating in the United States. Description: This thesis examines some selective cases of morphophonemic alternation in Mandarin Chinese. Do Non-Native Grammars Allow Verbs to Raise to Agreement?

Description: The purpose of this thesis is to determine whether the setting of the verb movement parameter in L2 is dependent on agreement acquisition. The Optionality hypothesis (Eubank, 1994) is tested by examining the L2 grammar of Chinese learners of English. To test this hypothesis, the sentence matching procedure originally described in Freedman and Forster (1985) is used. It is found that no current theory truly accounts for the results that are obtained.
