Assessment of potential and existing problems concerning interface between electric utilities and cogenerators

Description: The potential and existing problems concerning the interface between US electric utilities and cogenerators are considered by region. Also considered are regulatory barriers, rates and contracts, economic feasibility, and impact on system planning. Finally, the impact of the National Energy Act on the marketability potential of cogeneration is reviewed. The three appendixes summarize the utility meetings on cogeneration held in Washington, DC, Los Angeles, and Chicago.

Pipeline bottoming cycle study. Final report

Description: The technical and economic feasibility of applying bottoming cycles to the prime movers that drive the compressors of natural gas pipelines was studied. These bottoming cycles convert some of the waste heat from the exhaust gas of the prime movers into shaft power and conserve gas. Design study of a two-phase turbine bottoming cycle. Final report. [Therminol 66 heated in diesel exhaust]

Description: The use of a biphase turbine system to recover waste heat from diesel engines was examined and found to have many favorable attributes. Design of Heat-Recovery and Seed-Recovery Units in MHD Power Generation

Description: Crucial and limiting engineering and materials problems associated with the design of an MHD steam bottoming plant are discussed. Existing experimental and theoretical results on corrosion, fouling and deposits, potassium seed recovery and regeneration, are reviewed.
