We have prepared the thermodynamically stable YBCO-124 high temperature superconductor in powder form by a chemical precipitation method and have characterized the material by a number of chemical and physical methods, including carbon content, x-ray diffraction, thermogravimetry, scanning electron microscopy, surface area, thermally stimulated luminescence, and the superconducting transition and magnetization curves.
