On the non-invariance of space and time scale ranges under Lorentztransformation, and its implications for the study of relativisticinteractions

Description: We present an analysis which shows that the ranges of space and time scales spanned by a system are not invariant under the Lorentz transformation. This implies the existence of a frame of reference which minimizes an aggregate measure of the range of space and time scales. Such a frame is derived for example cases: free electron laser, laser-plasma accelerator, and particle beam interacting with electron clouds. A new luminescence beam profile monitor for intense proton and heavy ion beams

Description: A new luminescence beam profile monitor is realized in the polarized hydrogen gas jet target at the Relativistic Heavy Ion Collider (RHIC) facility. In addition to the spin polarization of the proton beam being routinely measured by the hydrogen gas jet, the luminescence produced by beam-hydrogen excitation leads to a strong Balmer series lines emission. ILC cryogenic systems reference design

Description: A Global Design Effort (GDE) began in 2005 to study a TeV scale electron-positron linear accelerator based on superconducting radio-frequency (RF) technology, called the International Linear Collider (ILC). Linear Model for Non Isosceles Absorbers.

Description: Previous analyses have assumed that wedge absorbers are triangularly shaped with equal angles for the two faces. In this case, to linear order, the energy loss depends only on the position in the direction of the face tilt, and is independent of the incoming angle. SPILL STRUCTURE IN INTENSE BEAMS.

Description: Fixed target studies of small branching ratio decay processes require intense beams and smooth spills. Longitudinal structure arises through collective effects, well below the coasting beam stability threshold. Designing Neutralized Drift Compression for Focusing of Intense Ion Beam Pulses in a Background Plasma

Description: Neutralized drift compression offers an effective method for particle beam focusing and current amplification. In neutralized drift compression, a linear radial and longitudinal velocity drift is applied to a beam pulse, so that the beam pulse compresses as it drifts in the drift-compression section. Absolute Measurement of Electron Cloud Density in a Positively-Charged Particle Beam

Description: Clouds of stray electrons are ubiquitous in particle accelerators and frequently limit the performance of storage rings.
