Comparison of Two Wire Chamber Track Reconstruction Algorithms Used in Hall A at Jefferson Lab

Description: The Hall A collaboration at Jefferson Lab is currently in the process of redesigning and rewriting its physics analysis software in C++, using the ROOT libraries developed at CERN, to replace the Fortran-based ESPACE analyzer. In this paper, we carry out a detailed comparison of the wire chamber tracking results of both software packages. To this end, reconstruction of target quantities from detected tracks through the Vertical Drift Chambers (VDCs) in both spectrometer arms has been recently a… more

The CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS)

Description: The CEBAF Large Acceptance Spectrometer (CLAS) is used to study photo- and electro-induced nuclear and hadronic reactions by providing efficient detection of neutral and charged particles over a good fraction of the full solid angle. A collaboration of about thirty institutions has designed, assembled, and commissioned CLAS in Hall B at the Thomas Jefferson National Accelerator Facility. The CLAS detector is based on a novel six-coil toroidal magnet which provides a largely azimuthal field dist… more

Beauty and charm physics at CDF, First results and perspectives

Description: Among CDF physics opportunities, heavy flavour physics is one of the most prominent and promising for the Tevatron run2. Still in the run1 CDF demonstrated that high precision CP violation measurement in the beauty sector as well as B mixing are feasible at hadronic collider, we think here especially to the first measure of sin2{beta} with B{sup 0} {yields} J/PsiK{sub s}{sup 0} decays and that of {Delta}m{sub Bd}. Tevatron accelerator and CDF detector upgrades are extensively discussed in other… more
