An assessment of the effects of radiation on permanent magnet material in the ALS (Advanced Light Source) insertion devices

Description: Electrons that are lost from the beam during normal operation of a synchrotron radiation source and during a beam dump at the end of a run produce both ionizing radiation and neutrons. This radiation has the potential for damaging sensitive materials, in particular those that need to be very close to the beam.
