Oral History Interview with Eugene Nielsen, December 11, 1989

Description: Interview with Eugene Nielsen, a Army WWII veteran and POW from Logan, Utah. Nielsen discusses his prewar assignment to Corregidor Island, the Battles of Bataan and Corregidor, capture by the Japanese, experiences in internment at Bilibid Prison, Cabanatuan, and Palawan, surviving the Palawan Massacre, and his rescue by Filipinos and American forces. Included is Nielsen's obituary of February 6, 2011.

Description: Interview with George Fukui, a biologist from San Francisco, California. Fukui discusses his experiences as a Japanse-American during World War Two, including his family's background and their business, its closure, their forced relocation to Tanforan internment camp, the quality of life there, relocation to Topaz War Relocation Center in Utah, ranchwork there, securing a job outside the camp, continuing his higher education, and his career after the war.

Uranium Favorability of the San Rafael Swell Area, East-Central Utah

Description: Purpose and scope: The purpose of this study was to delineate new areas favorable for uranium exploration in the San Rafael Swell region of east-central Utah. Emphasis was placed on the sandstone and siltstone members of the lower Chinle Formation (Triassic) and on the Salt Wash and Brushy Basin Members of the Morrison Formation (Jurassic). National Uranium Resource Evaluation: Richfield Quadrangle, Utah

Description: From Introduction: "The Richfield 1º x 2º Quadrangle, Utah, was evaluated to identify and delineate areas and geologic areas and geologic units that exhibit characteristics favorable for the occurrence of uranium deposits. A favorable area or environment, according to the specifications used in this study, is one that is known or is likely to have uranium deposits containing a minimum of 100 tons of U3O8 with an average grade of not less than 100 ppm U3O8."
