Reversible thermodynamic cycle for AMTEC power conversion

Description: The thermodynamic cycle appropriate to an AMTEC (alkali metal thermal-to-electric converter) cell is discussed for both liquid- and vapor-fed modes of operation, under the assumption that all processes can be performed reversibly. In the liquid-fed mode, the reversible efficiency is greater than 89.6% of Carnot efficiency for heat input and rejection temperatures (900--1300 K and 400--800 K, respectively) typical of practical devices. Atom Arrangements in Some Iron-Aluminum Solutions, Report No. 1

Description: "Short-range order coefficients were measured at 300 and 400°C for iron-aluminum alloys containing 14.8, 18.2, and 20.0 atomic per cent aluminum. These alloys exhibited a strong preference for unlike near neighbors. The short-range order was greater at the lower temperature and increased as the Fe 3Al composition was approached."

A Kinetic Study of CO2 Desorption From Thoria

Description: "Desorption rate curves were obtained for carbon dioxide absorbed on thoria at temperatures of 550C, 450C, 350C, 250C, 150C, and 50C. The gas were found to desorb according to a logarithmic law following initial rapid desorption. The logarithmic law may be shown to be operative if the activation energy for desorption varies linearly with surface converge. A large apparent negative entropy of activation for desorption supports the fact that the adsorbed CO2 is in a mobile state."
