Abstract: "The development of a portable battery-operated instrument capable of detecting a short-circuit four or more inches from the hot junction of a five-foot-long thermocouple is described. The accuracy of measurement is inversely proportional to the length of the thermocouple and is not affected by changes in thermocouple temperature.
