AFBC-HAGT, an efficient small scale power plant

Description: A team comprised of the Energy and Environmental Research Corporation (EER), the Will-Burt Company, and the Ohio Agricultural Research and Development Center (OARDC) designed installed and tested a pilot scale atmospheric fluidized (bubbling) bed combustion (AFBC) system to heat hot water. Description: This proof of concept project studied the feasibility of producing elemental sulfur from a spent solid sorbent and carbon dioxide (CO{sub 2}) gas. Description: A study conducted by Pittsburgh Energy Technology Center of sulfur emissions from about 1,300 United States coal-fired utility boilers indicated that half of the emissions were the result of burning coals having greater than 1.2 pounds of SO{sub 2} per million BTU.
