Description: Binary alloys were investigated. Segregation to and thermodynamics of twist grain boundaries in Cu-Ni were studied. Segregation to and order-disorder phase transitions at grain boundaries in ordered Ni{sub 3{minus}x}Al{sub 1+x} were also investigated. Order-disorder transitions at and segregation to the (001), (011), and (111) surfaces in Pd-Cu, Pd-Ag, and Pd-Au alloys were investigated. Tritium production using highly enriched fuel

Description: Preliminary studies utilizing the MOFDA code have been made for tritium production at the K reactors using 33 and 35 grams per foot oralloy (93.5% U-235) in aluminum in conjunction with standard K5N and K5E fuel elements, respectively. Description: The melt-dilute treatment technology is being developed to facilitate the ultimate disposition of highly enriched Al-Base DOE spent nuclear fuels in a geologic repository such as that proposed for Yucca Mountain. Nd - Fe - Al, A SPIN GLASS TRANSITION IN A COLLECTION OF SUPERPARAMAGNETIC CLUSTERS.

Description: In the Nd-Fe-A1 system, compositions in the range of Nd{sub 60}Fe{sub 30}Al{sub 10} have been reported to be ferromagnetic bulk metallic glasses with high coercivities. Careful examination of both the microstructure and magnetic properties of these materials shows this to be true only in the most general sense. A Rotating Metal Band Target for Pion Production at Neutrino Factories and Muon Colliders.

Description: A conceptual design is presented for a high power pion production target for neutrino factories and muon colliders that is based on a rotating metal band of either inconel alloy 718, titanium alloy 6AL4V grade 5 or nickel.
