Test of the consistency of various linearized semiclassical initial value time correlation functions in application to inelastic neutron scattering from liquid para-hydrogen

Description: The linearized approximation to the semiclassical initial value representation (LSC-IVR) is used to calculate time correlation functions relevant to the incoherent dynamic structure factor for inelastic neutron scattering from liquid para-hydrogen at 14 K. Various time correlations functions were used which, if evaluated exactly, would give identical results, but they do not because the LSC-IVR is approximate. Some of the correlation functions involve only linear operators, and others involve n… more

FRW Solutions and Holography from Uplifted AdS/CFT

Description: Starting from concrete AdS/CFT dual pairs, one can introduce ingredients which produce cosmological solutions, including metastable de Sitter and its decay to non-accelerating FRW. We present simple FRW solutions sourced by magnetic flavor branes and analyze correlation functions and particle and brane dynamics. To obtain a holographic description, we exhibit a time-dependent warped metric on the solution and interpret the resulting redshifted region as a Lorentzian low energy effective field t… more

Non-Gaussian Effects in Identical Pion Correlation Function at STAR.

Description: Preliminary femtoscopic results on identical pions from high statistics data set of Au+Au collisions at {radical}s{sub NN} = 200 GeV taken during the fourth RHIC run are presented. The measured three-dimensional correlation function is studied at low relative momenta using the Gaussian parametrization and the Levy stable parametrization. The latter is expected to better describe the data. As the results show, both parametrizations underestimate the peak of the measured correlation function equa… more

PROTON - LAMBDA CORRELATIONS IN AU-AU COLLISIONS AT SQUARE ROOT NN = 200 GEV FROM THE STAR EXPERIMENT.

Description: The space-time evolution of the source of particles formed in the collision of nuclei can be studied through particle correlations. The STAR experiment is dedicated to study ultra-relativistic heavy ions collisions and allows to measure non-identical strange particle correlations. The source size can be extracted by studying p - {Lambda}, {bar p} - {bar {Lambda}}, {bar p} - {Lambda} and p - {bar {Lambda}} correlation functions. Strong interaction potential has been studied for these systems usi… more

Pion Interferemetry From P+P to Au+Au in STAR.

Description: The geometric substructure of the particle-emitting source has been characterized via two-particle interferometry by the STAR collaboration for all energies and colliding systems at RHIC. We present systematic studies of charged pion interferometry. The collective nature of the source is revealed through the m{sub T} dependence of HBT radii for all particle types. Preliminary results suggest a scaling in the pion HBT radii with overall system size, as central Au+Au collisions are compared to pe… more

HBTprogs Version 1.0

Description: This is the manual for a collection of programs that can be used to invert angled-averaged (i.e. one dimensional) two-particle correlation functions. This package consists of several programs that generate kernel matrices (basically the relative wavefunction of the pair, squared), programs that generate test correlation functions from test sources of various types and the program that actually inverts the data using the kernel matrix.

Short range rapidity correlations from the Bose-Einstein effect and intermittency: A quantitative demonstration

Description: A measurement of the two-particle correlation of identified pions was performed in the E802/E859 magnetic spectrometer on the interval 1.5 {le} y {le} 2.0, {delta}{phi} = 0.4 rad, for central {sup 28}Si + Au collisions. It is demonstrated that the two-pion correlation in rapidity is entirely due to Bose-Einstein interference. The directly measured exponential correlation length is {zeta}{sub y} = 0.20 {+-} 0.03 for two {pi}{sup {minus}}, with strength R(0,0) {approximately} 1%, in agreement wit… more

Meson interferometry and the quest for quark-gluon matter

Description: We point out what we may learn from the investigation of identical two-particle interferometry in ultrarelativistic heavy ion collisions if we assume a particular model scenario by the formation of a thermalized quark-gluon plasma hadronizing via a first-order phase transition to an interacting hadron gas. The bulk properties of the two-pion correlation functions are dominated by these late and soft resonance gas rescattering processes. However, we show that kaons at large transverse momenta ha… more
