Impedance calculation for ferrite inserts

Description: Passive ferrite inserts were used to compensate the space charge impedance in high intensity space charge dominated accelerators. Options for an 11 GeV RF Beam Separator for the Jefferson Lab CEBAF Upgrade

Description: The CEBAF accelerator at Jefferson Lab has had, since first demonstration in 1996, the ability to deliver a 5-pass electron beam to experimental halls (A, B, and C) simultaneously. This capability was provided by a set of three, room temperature 499 MHz rf separators in the 5th pass beamline. The separator was two-rod, TEM mode type resonator, which has a high shunt impedance. Quench anaylsis of MICE spectrometer superconducting solenoid

Description: MICE superconducting spectrometer solenoids fabrication and tests are in progress now. First tests of the Spectrometer Solenoid discovered some issues which could be related to the chosen passive quench protection system. Both solenoids do not have heaters and quench propagation relied on the 'quench back' effect, cold diodes, and shunt resistors. Passive modal damping with piezoelectric shunts

Description: The use of piezoelectric materials in conjunction with passive inductance-resistance-capacitance (RLC) circuits to dampen specific vibration modes is explored. CIGS P1, P2, P3 Scribing Processes using a Pulse Programmable Industrial Fiber Laser: Preprint

Description: We describe a novel set of laser processes for the CIGS P1, P2 and P3 scribing steps, the development of which has been enabled by a unique pulse-programmable fiber laser. We find that the unique pulse control properties of this 1064 nm wavelength laser have significant effects on the material removal dynamics of the various film layers in the CIGS material system. Analysis of a grid window structure for RF cavities in a Muon cooling channel

A 201 MHz RF cavity design with non-stressed pre-curved Be windows for muon cooling channels

Description: We present a 201-MHz RF cavity design for muon cooling channels with non-stressed and pre-curved Be foils to terminate the beam apertures. The Be foils are necessary to improve the cavity shunt impedance with large beam apertures needed for accommodating large transverse size muon beams. Excess Dark Currents and Transients in Thin-Film CdTe Solar Cells: Implications for Cell Stability and Encapsulation of Scribe Lines and Cell Ends in Modules

Description: We have isolated a non-linear, metastable, shunt-path failure mechanism located at the CdS/CdTe cell edge. In such cases, most performance loss, usually erratic, can be associated with the shunt path. We studied these shunt paths using dark current-transients and infrared (ir) imaging and find only one shunt path per cell and only at the cell corner wall, even in badly degraded cells. Design and Development of Superconducting Parallel-Bar Deflecting/Crabbing Cavities

Description: The superconducting parallel-bar cavity is a deflecting/crabbing cavity with attractive properties that is being considered for a number of applications. We present the designs of a 499 MHz deflecting cavity developed for the Jefferson Lab 12 GeV Upgrade and a 400 MHz crabbing cavity for the LHC High Luminosity Upgrade. Prototypes of these two cavities are now under development and fabrication.

Experiments Involving Correlations Between CdTe Solar Cell Fabrication History and Intrinsic Device Stability

Description: An orthogonal full-factorial design was used to study the effect of CdS and CdTe layer thickness, oxygen ambient during vapor CdCl2 (VCC) and the use of nitric-phosphoric (NP) acid as a pre-contact etch on the initial and stressed performance of CdS/CdTe small-area devices.
