Regulating Intracellular Calcium in Plants: From Molecular Genetics to Physiology

Description: To grow, develop, adapt, and reproduce, plants have evolved mechanisms to regulate the uptake, translocation and sorting of calcium ions into different cells and subcellular compartments. Yet how plants accomplish this remarkable feat is still poorly understood. Apple Strength Issues

Description: Strength of the apple parts has been noticed to decrease, especially those installed by the new induction heating system since the LEP campaign started. Fig. 1 shows the ultimate tensile strength (UTS), yield strength (YS), and elongation of the installed or installation-simulated apples on various systems. Synthesis and Characterization of Nonbanded U-Nb Plate Material

Description: This report describes the synthesis and characterization of four plates, two each of U-5.5Nb and U-7.5Nb (nominal wt%) for aging studies described elsewhere. The plates were induction melted and cast into graphite molds that were unheated and {approx}0.5 inches thick to maximize the cooling rate and minimize large length-scale Nb segregation (banding).
