A Study of Four-Mallet Grips Used in Playing Keyboard Percussion Instruments

Description: The purpose of this study was to evaluate the efficiency of three common grips used in four-mallet playing. The three grips were referred to as (a) the Musser grip, (b) the cross stick grip No. 1, and (c) the cross stick grip No. 2. A thorough description (including illustrations) was given for each grip. Concerto for Piano and Orchestra

Description: Concerto for Piano and Orchestra is a three movement composition. The performance time of the entire composition is approximately nineteen and one-half minutes. Certain melodic similarities are found in the three movements of this composition because some of the pitch successions selected for motives were derived from a twelve tone row. Pitahaya : Stage Music in One Act

Description: The initial intent in regard to the story line for this work was to utilize an authentic Hispanic-Southwestern folk tale. It was found, however, that the predominance of recorded folk tales was lacking in sufficient plot involvement. Effects of X-Irradiation of Respiration in Frog Brain Tissue Slices Using the Oxygen Electrode Method

Description: The effects of X-irradiation at dosages of 40 r, 80 r, 160 r, 240 r, 320 r, 400 r, 800 r, 4 Kr, 8 Kr, and 16 Kr on the oxygen uptake of frog brain (Rana pipiens) tissue slices were studied. A membrane-covered oxygen electrode method was used to measure the respiratory rate. Continuous recordings were made before, during, and following X-irradiation in all of the test experiments. X-irradiation was delivered from a G. E. beryllium window X-ray unit at 120 KVP, 5 ma with a 1/4 mm Al filter.

On Lane's Integral

Description: The problem and purpose of this paper is to develop Lane's Integral in two-space, and then to expand these concepts into three-space and n-space. Lane's Integral can be used by both mathematicians and statisticians as one of the tools in the calculation of certain probabilities and expectations. An Experimental Study of Intonation Factors of the Cornet and Trumpet

Description: Many musicians have theorized that intonation would be improved if all players in a band or orchestral section used instruments of identical dimensions and material. This study consists of a test taken under experimental conditions comparing the Conn 38A cornets used in the North Texas State University Concert Band with a random selection of trumpets, using the same performers for both sets of instruments.

The Influence of a Return of Native Grasslands upon the Ecology and Distribution of Small Rodents in Big Bend National Park

Description: In the southwestern United States there is a delicate balance between the existing grasslands and the rodent fauna. The purpose of this investigation was to determine the influence of secondary succession of native grasslands upon the ecology and distribution of small rodents.
