Description: The purpose of this paper is to further investigate R0 spaces, R1 spaces, and hyperspaces. The R0 axiom was introduced by N. A. Shanin in 1943. Later, in 1961, A. S. Steepest Sescent on a Uniformly Convex Space

Description: This paper contains four main ideas. First, it shows global existence for the steepest descent in the uniformly convex setting. Secondly, it shows existence of critical points for convex functions defined on uniformly convex spaces. Description: Assume AD+V=L(R). In the first chapter, let W^1_1 denote the club measure on \omega_1. We analyze the embedding j_{W^1_1}\restr HOD from the point of view of inner model theory. We use our analysis to answer a question of Jackson-Ketchersid about codes for ordinals less than \omega_\omega. Description: This paper studies symbolic dynamical systems {0, 1}G, where G is a countably infinite group, {0, 1}G has the product topology, and G acts on {0, 1}G by shifts. A Collapsing Result Using the Axiom of Determinancy and the Theory of Possible Cofinalities

The Maximum Size of Combinatorial Geometries Excluding Wheels and Whirls as Minors

Description: We show that the maximum size of a geometry of rank n excluding the (q + 2)-point line, the 3-wheel W_3, and the 3-whirl W^3 as minor is (n - 1)q + 1, and geometries of maximum size are parallel connections of (q + 1)-point lines. We show that the maximum size of a geometry of rank n excluding the 5-point line, the 4-wheel W_4, and the 4-whirl W^4 as minors is 6n - 5, for n ≥ 3. Examples of geometries having rank n and size 6n - 5 include parallel connections of the geometries V_19 and PG(2,3).

Maximum-Sized Matroids with no Minors Isomorphic to U2,5, F7, F7¯, OR P7

Description: Let M be the class of simple matroids which do not contain the 5-point line U2,5 , the Fano plane F7 , the non-Fano plane F7- , or the matroid P7 , as minors. Let h(n) be the maximum number of points in a rank-n matroid in M. We show that h(2)=4, h(3)=7, and h(n)=n(n+1)/2 for n>3, and we also find all the maximum-sized matroids for each rank.

Localized Radial Solutions for Nonlinear p-Laplacian Equation in RN

Description: We establish the existence of radial solutions to the p-Laplacian equation ∆p u + f(u)=0 in RN, where f behaves like |u|q-1 u when u is large and f(u) < 0 for small positive u. A Generalization of Sturmian Sequences: Combinatorial Structure and Transcendence

Description: We investigate a class of minimal sequences on a finite alphabet Ak = {1,2,...,k} having (k - 1)n + 1 distinct subwords of length n. These sequences, originally defined by P. Arnoux and G. Rauzy, are a natural generalization of binary Sturmian sequences.
