Reconciliation

Description: The content of my work focused on examining the relationship between certain elements of nature and of human beings and was also based on the question of what true life is. The woodcut process - combined with the other printing techniques such as intaglio, collagraph, and monotype - was adopted as a potentially successful medium for conveying the content of the work. Overlay printing techniques and repeated textures were utilized as well.

Block-classified motion compensation scheme for digital video

Description: A novel scheme for block-based motion compensation is introduced in which a block is classified according to the energy that is directly related to the motion activity it represents. This classification allows more flexibility in controlling the bit rate arid the signal-to-noise ratio and results in a reduction in motion search complexity. The method introduced is not dependent on the particular type of motion search algorithm implemented and can thus be used with any method assuming that the u… more

Cooperative research in coal liquefaction. Final report, May 1, 1991--April 30, 1992

Description: Extensive research continued on catalysts based on novel anion-treated (mainly sulfated) oxides and oxyhydroxides of iron [Fe{sub x}O{sub y}/SO{sub 4}]. In addition, sulfated oxides of tin as well as molybdenum promoted iron oxides were used. Incorporation of small amounts of sulfate, molybdate, or tungstate anions by wet precipitation/impregnation methods was found to increase the surface acidic character of iron oxides; more importantly, it reduced the grain sizes significantly with correspon… more

Application of wavelet theory to power distribution systems for fault detection

Description: In this paper an investigation of the wavelet transform as a means of creating a feature extractor for Artificial Neural Network (ANN) training is presented. The study includes a teresstrial-based 3 phase delta power distribution system. Faults were injected into the system and data was obtained from experimentation. Graphical representations of the feature extractors obtained in the time domain, the frequency domain and the wavelet domain are presented to ascertain the superiority of the wavel… more
