Investigation of Primary Li-Si/FeS2 Cells

Description: The factors that limit the performance of thermally activated Li-Si/FeS2 batteries were defined through the use of electrochemical characterization tests and post-test examinations. For the characterization tests, 82 individual cells were instrumented with multiple voltage sensors and discharged under isothermal and isobaric conditions. The voltage data for the sensors were recorded to determine the ohmic and electrochemical impedances of each cell component at different levels of discharge. Th… more

Site Surveillance and Maintenance Program for Palos Park : Report for 1986

Description: The results of the environmental monitoring program conducted at Site A/Plot M in the Palos Park Forest Preserve area for CY 1986 are presented. The monitoring program is the ongoing remedial action that resulted from the original radiological characterization of the site. The program consists of sample collection and analysis of air, surface and subsurface water, and bottom sediment to determine the migration pathway of water from the burial ground (Plot M) to hand-operated picnic wells, estab… more

7-GeV Advanced Photon Source : Conceptual Design Report

Description: During the past decade, synchrotron radiation emitted by circulating electron beams has come into wide use as a powerful, versatile source of x-rays for probing the structure of matter and for studying various physical processes. Several synchrotron radiation facilities with different designs and characteristics are now in regular operation throughout the world, with recent additions in this country being the 0.8-GeV and 2.5-GeV rings of NSLS at Brookhaven National Laboratory. However, none of … more

National Earthquake Engineering Experimental Facility Study: Phase One -- Large Scale Testing Needs

Description: Abstract: This report summarizes information obtained during the first year of a four-year feasibility study for a national earthquake engineering experimental facility. A five-year research program is presented for a national facility in which full-scale or large-scale structures or structural components would be subjected to static or dynamic lateral loads. The facility would have applicability to tests in the following areas: low-rise buildings, medium-rise buildings, high-rise buildings, in… more

Aerial Gamma Ray and Magnetic Survey, Final Report. Volume 1: Rice Lake Quadrangle (Wisconsin), Iron Mountain Quadrangle (Wisconsin/Michigan), Eau Claire Quadrangle (Wisconsin/Minnesota), and Green Bay Quadrangle (Wisconsin)

Description: A high sensitivity airborne radiometric and magnetic survey of the Rice Like, Iron Mountain, Eau Claire and Green Bay 1:250,000 NMTS Quadrangles within the states of Wisconsin, Michigan, and Minnesota. A total of 10,340 line miles of high sensitivity radiometric and magnetic data were collected within these quadrangles. Traverse lines were flown at a spacing of 3.125 miles in an east/west direction at a 18.375 miles seperation. All data were collected utilizing a fixed wing aircraft and over 3,… more

Basic Data Report for Drilling and Hydrologic Testing of Drillhole DOE-2 at the Waste Isolation Pilot Plant (WIPP) Site

Description: From abstract: Drillhole DOE-2 was drilled to investigate a structural depression marked by the downward displacement of stratigraphic markers in the Salado Formation ~ 2 mi north of the center of the WIPP site. This depression was named informally after the shallow borehole FC-92 in which the structure was described. The presence of the depression was confirmed by drilling.
