Geothermal Development Plan: Pinal County

Description: Wells drilled in the county provide evidence of geothermal energy sufficient for process heat and space heating and cooling applications. Annual energy consumption was estimated for industries whose process heat requirements are less than 105/sup 0/C (221/sup 0/F). This information was then used to model the introduction of geothermal energy into the process heat market. Also, agriculture and agribusiness industries were identified. Many of these are located on or near a geothermal resource and… more

Preliminary Reconnaissance of the Dripping Spring Quartzite Formation in Gila and Pinal Counties, Arizona

Description: Abstract: A four-week reconnaissance of certain portions of the mountainous area in Gila and Pinal Counties, Arizona, was undertaken in March and April, 1953, to inspect accessible outcrops of Dripping Spring quartzite, a pre-Cambrian formation which has lately attracted the interest of the Atomic Energy Commission by the discovery of two separate occurrences of uranium mineralization. Although no new deposits were found during the field work, a more thorough examination of the quartzite seems … more

Conception and Design of Constructed Wetland Systems to Treat Wastewater at the Biosphere 2 Center with Use of Reaction Rate Models and the Habitat Evaluation Procedure to Determine the Effects of Designing for Wildlife Habitat on Treatment Efficiency

Description: A study was undertaken to explore relationships between wetland characteristics which make them efficient water purifiers versus their ability to serve as wildlife habitat. The effects of designing constructed wetlands for improved habitat on water treatment efficiencies were quantified. Results indicate that some sacrifice in treatment efficiency is required and that the degree of efficiency reduction is dependant upon pollutant loading rates. However, sacrifice in efficiency is much smaller t… more
