The Relation of Sociometric Status, Frequency of Verbalizations, and a Measure of Self-Actualization

Description: It is felt that additional research concerning the relationship of mental health to sociometric status is needed in view of the fact that Mill concluded that the Rorschach variables were not sufficiently sensitive for group comparison. The POI, an objectively scored test, was selected for the purpose of the present study.

Freud's Objective Anxiety and College Performance

Description: It was the position of this study that the Hullian theoretical concept of anxiety as a drive is inappropriate in relation to an understanding of the effects of anxiety on the complexities of college performance. The present study also viewed performance in the college setting as differing from most of the related variables presented in the literature to which anxiety was connected.

The Relationship between Scholastic Motivation and Psychological Needs

Description: The present study was designed to investigate, in an academic situation, the relation between achievement motivation--a "wish to master" or "desire to do well"--and certain psychological needs by the use of two psychometric instruments. These instruments were the Brown-Holzman Survey of Study Habits and Attitudes (SSHA) and the Edwards Personal Preference Schedule (EPPS).
