ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS
First, I would like to thank my parents. I would not be the person I am today
without their encouragement to excel at following my dreams. I would like to thank my
advisor, Dr. Shahla Ala'i-Rosales. With her gentle shaping, she has shown me the kind
of behavior analyst, friend, and woman I will strive to be. Thank you to Dr. Jesus
Rosales-Ruiz for providing guidance and support through my graduate career and for
being a member of my committee. Thanks also to Dr. Einar Ingvarsson for being on my
committee and giving valuable feedback on this research. I would also like to thank my
dear friend and colleague Nicole Zeug. You have helped so much in the process and I
appreciate your friendship and feedback. The assistance that Claire Anderson provided
was invaluable. You have helped with everything from videotaping to writing and I truly
appreciate all of your hard work. Thank you Sara Weinkauf for your time spent working
on IOA, I appreciate your diligence in observing and counting. I would also like to thank
the dear friends I have made at UNT. You will be forever friends and I am grateful for
the opportunity to share this experience with you. Last but not least, I would like to
thank all of the children who have helped me to find the career path that I care so
deeply about and have helped fuel my love for behavior analysis. I am here because of
you.iii
